Keeping her original question.

Having the alternator reworked on the 73. I have decided to keep the car as original as possible. Was thinking about seeing if they can powder coat the shell or maybe even chrome. Does this take away from the originality if I put her in a show later. $70 bucks to have it rebuilt, looks like a chrome one new is $200 on line. If I could get it fixed and finished around that cost I'd be happy, especially if has more eye appeal. Opinions please.

Hopefully someone knows and/or has their MCA rules handy. It should give proper finish details for the alternator.

You should make changes that you like under the hood, enjoy it

I would not chrome the alternator case. It may create heat issues in the alternator.

I dropped it off this morning. After seeing a couple rebuilt ones on their counter that looked brand new I asked the guy if it was going to look like them.... "Yep". Well heck yea man.

I can live with 70 bucks and looks good.
