Headlight Trim Color

The trim around my headlights are different. One is polished aluminum, the other is matte/flat black with just the outer edge left polished bright. Which one is correct for a 1973 Mustang Grande?

If you have the boxy grill it should be polished. If you have the honeycomb grill that the Decor Group got you they should be blacked out. Not sure on Grande' if they were different. I know the above is correct for verts.

73 is totally different front end, grill, headlights everything is different.

This is the Decor Group on my 73 Convertible. Grande should be the same if it has Decor Group.

Here is the front end on my 73 vert.

A good article on the 73 Grande. It doesn't look like it had the honey comb grille as an option. Chrome trim seems to be the ones around the lights. Interesting fact:

"only 548 '73 Grandes came with the top-of-the-line V-8, the Q-code 351 four-barrel that, while detuned for emissions, was still a formidable performance engine. Of those, 89 were optioned with four-speeds, with seven of them also equipped with the 3.50 Traction-Lok rear axle."

Should be polished only for the '73 Grande.

I see this one on here and it is supposed to be a well documented original car. It appears to have the same grille as mine and it has the bright headlight surrounds.

Personally, I like the blacked one and I think it would be easier to make the bright one match the black one than vice versa.

I never noticed they were different until someone else asked me about it....
