I travelled in to the city centre yesterday and found a gathering of farm vehicles outside the transport museum. The differant shades of gray were abundant. I don't think any 2 vehicles had same shade of gray. The majority of the farm vehicles were massey Ferguson which were built here in my hometown. Only one of the vehicles had a Perkins diesel engine

I would not recommend use of those as example colors. The slop gray is not really gray. It is more black to a dark dark gray hue. Remember it was formulated from all of the colors from the production line poured into one central vat. Here are a few examples from the underside of my car. This color was matched to a section of the trunk underside above the gas tank. Pretty confident on the match to my original color.

Looks good on your car. I have seen both lighter and darker hue's and as you noted, it was dependent upon what was in the various vats on the production floor any given day/shift. Whatever blend one uses, ensure you document what was there previously if you are going to show the car down the road in certain MCA classes.
