side panel screws

1973 red convertible 351 4 V
The screws are missing on both mine rear side panels in the same, Not sure what the purpose was and there to far away to screw into the body. Can someone clue me in. Here a photo.

It keeps the panel from pulling away from the side. There should be a "L" shaped bracket that the screw goes in. Attached a pic, its on the upper right side . Best picture I had.

If my interior hardware kit is correct, they are a tapered Phillip's head screw, "bright" coated. Looks a lot like your door threshold screws.
