Automatic shifter bezel lighting

I couldnt find any information on this on the net, so maybe you guys know...

I just noticed that my gear letters (automatic shifter, seems to be the original one of the 73' mustang) have no backlight, meaning i cant see anything on them when it's dark outside. Im a bit new to automatic gears, so finding the right gear is a bit difficult in total darkness.

Isn't there supposed to be some form of light on those gear letters? If so, do you guys have a link to some diagram or photo of the insides behind the bezel?

yup there is a bulb inside on the shifter under the bezel.

pop the 4 screws and lift the bezel up and look inside you should see the burned out bulb or a socket for one.

72 H code is right. 4 screw removed and you should see It. It a very small bulb. The trade number is 1445. You should be able to get it from a local auto parts store.

John where did you get that size LED ?

I used this one. Just remove the clear cover from it. I heated it a little with my heat gun to melt the glue. Then remove the cover and file down the two plastic rings that are on the outside of the light. It does just barley fit, but it is way brighter, but not to bright.
