I managed to buy a real nice 429cj.......now I am trying to compile as much info as possible.

What type of oil do you fellas use in your cars? Would Castrol XL 20w/50 old school mineral oil be good?

Any info appreciated......thanks.

That's a heavy wt oil unless you live in the desert. 10w30 or 10w40 syn. or dino oil should do trick.

Look for a normal use oil with 1200 to 1500 PPM of ZDDP. Break in oil is typically above 2000 PPM. Like most things, you can have too much ZDDP. If the engine is stock specifications on bearing clearances, a 10W30 oil should work well. I do not suggest "additives" since each manufacturer's mixture of viscosity modifiers, friction reducers, anti-wear agents, and detergents is different. The additives may clash with the oil's additive package formula and reduce the effectiveness of both.
