So I own this pretty rare 71 Q code mach 1 and its the only green 4 speed.ever made. Its a great driver with a 4 speed 3.50 rear. I love this car. But now I have a dilemma a good friend of mine is offering me a yellow 1970 mach one with close ratio 4 speed and factory Detroit locker.

It is a documented original 46,000 mile car unrestored and doesn't need it. It has never been repainted. I feel like it is a once in a lifetime chance for a time capsule like that.

Man I want to keep them both :)

71 Q codes are pretty rare no matter what the body style.....anyone have a Marti book handy to look up how many were really made?

On page 70 of Marti's book Mustang by the Numbers here is some info.

I think the Q code had ram air and M code just 351 4-V.

Under Dark Green Metallic he lists 42 fastback and Mach 1 combined not broken out separate.

There was only 1 vert made and 7 coupes. So the Q code option puts that car in a rare position in my book. Marti did not break out color / Mach 1. He says in book that Ford combined that info. If you got a Marti report it would probably break it out more.

49 - 4 speeds and 95 automatics that is for all body styles

Yes they are rare but they we nothing special.

The Q only means they are, in all reality a 72 low compression motor.

That is a gorgeous car though always liked the Green / argent combo

So, are you selling the 71 Mach or are you keeping it? I'm in the market for a 71-73 Mach 1 with a 4spd. I don't want a project, I'm past the "let me rebuild it stage". If your Mach is priced right, or if anyone knows of a priced right 71-73 Mach 1 for sale, please let me know. I live in central PA...... Email me @     [email protected]

:thankyouyellow:
