Vinnie,

Soon all the American cars will be somewhere else, lol. They sure keep you away from the track there. They do here now use to let you sit on the rail or no rail at all.

Back in the 60's Chrysler did not have a great drag race program. They convinced Richard Petty the NASCAR driver to build and run a Barracuda with 426 Hemi. He lost control of the car and ran into the crowd and killed someone and he swore he would never drive a drag race car again and he did not. Most never saw him run in his short drag race venture.

At our local 1/4 mile strip back in the 60's you parked your car along the side of the track and sat in lawn chairs right beside the strip. The wheel standing car the L.A. Dart came to do exhibition runs and lost control and hit cars along the side. A friends brand new SS Impala was one. They loaded the car up and got across the state line before police could come do anything only 20 miles from the line.

I saw a 1965 mustang 289 HiPo blow a flywheel and cut the steering column, headers and of course the bell housing broke. No scatter shield. The dash in the car and firewall were twisted. He coasted to a stop and was not hurt.

Now you cannot get close to the strip. We do have the 4 wide drag strip in Charlotte that when the fuel cars run is crazy noisy. I think the only 4 wide strip anywhere.
