My 72 is an H code, but added changed intake and carb to eldebrock  4bbl.  With a FMX trans the kickdown rod no longer works. trying to bend not working.  Could use some ideas on upgrades or I my just fab. one   HELP!!!!!

 
I broke out the welder and extended mine about an inch using a section from a junkyard kick down rod. There are a few ways you could rig something up if you don't have a welder. You will need the kick down adapter from Edelbrock as well to make everything work.

 
If you are not concerned about original look you can use the lokar setup.  I used both the accelerator cable and kickdown when I went Efi and am happy about the setup.  The bottom cable is the kickdown.

Edit:  It also hides well if you use a stock style air cleaner.
