Hi guys,

I bougt a '73 H code and the guy previously used it for drag race. He removed the engine and sold it with some missing parts.

Now the cars have broken air shocks with leafs in the rear, and adjustable drag shock in the front and i have no sway bar at all (front & back)

So im gonna buy 4 new shocks, and the front sway bar. I read forums in here and it seems to says that the rear sway bar is a good addition, is it ?

What hardware should i get ?  My reading seems to go for the KYB gas shocks with addco bars, which size should i get ?

Its a weekend drive, not track or drag.

I'd use the 1.125 in the front and the .875 in the rear. There are two types for the rear, OEM style and after market. Either one may cause exhaust system interference depending on how the system is built. If your car has staggered shocks use the OEM style. If not, use the aftermarket style. The KYBs are an economical decent shock. If stock appearance is not an issue, consider subframe connectors. They make a significant difference on how the car rides and handles, for the better. Thanks chuck !

What is the difference between 1 1/8 bar from addco @ 220$ and scott drake @ 120$ ?

erikroy57,

Check out Open Tracker racing Products. They have some great products for our year mustangs at reasonable prices.

Definitely would research the shock absorbers. It can make the difference between a stiff and ruff ride to a good comfortable ride.

A great article. http://www.mustangandfords.com/featured-vehicles/mump-0508-classic-ford-mustang-guide/

I've not seen a Scott Drake sway bar so I can't say. I will say I'm not a Scott Drake supporter, too many of "his" parts are junk. A lot of aftermarket parts have gone up in price due to what I perceive to be, price fixing in the industry. Prices used to vary a lot from company to company. Now they are the same, and higher, from all the large vendors. Chuck

When I first bought my '71 Mach, of course the suspension had seen better days. I decided to gather the suspension parts piece by piece every week until I had everything to do it all at the same time. New upper and lower control arms, new front springs and 5 leaf rear springs ( Eaton ), KYB gas shocks all around, strut rod bushings, new idler arm, new spring saddles in front, poly sway bar bushing and link kits front and back, inner and outer tie rod ends, and an aftermarket ( Addco ) 1 1/8 front sway bar with a 7/8 rear sway bar. All the various parts were available thru Moog then ( 1990 ). I also added Traction Master bars listed for the '70 model, they fit.

Needless to say, what a difference! The mechanics at the shop that installed it all told me , as I picked the car up, that the suspension felt firm and I may not like it. Well, yes, it was firm, but in a good way, I like it like that. I've been driving it like that everyday for 28 years, and I think I'll do it all again, this time, I'm gonna pull the power steering box and have it gone through and add a bit quicker steering over the variable ratio that came on it.
