Ok, I've combed through the forum and I think I'm more confused than I was.  I'm looking at these wheels and tires and it sounds like 17s are a possible problem.  Here are the details.

- Size: 17” x 7” (front) and 17" x 8" (rear)

- Lugs: 5 x 4.5"

- Finish: Gloss Black

- Offset: 1mm

- Backspacing: 4” (front) and 4.5" (rear)

- Center Cap: Included

- Weight: 20 lbs. (front) and 21 lbs. (rear)

Tires are 245/45 front and 255/45 on the back.

Should the fronts be ok with this setup on a 73?

Thanks for any advice.

I run a 17x8 with 4.5 backspacing and a 245/45ZR17 tire on a 71 with no issues. Different manufacturers have a little different measurements for the same tire.

I have 17x7 with 0 offset on the front and back and BFGoodrich g-Force Comp-2 A/S Tires 235/50-ZR17 https://www.summitracing.com/parts/bfg-27274/overview/

The offset is correct, I had wheels on this car that stuck out about a half inch more and they didn't look as good in my opinion.

Yours are going to be the same as mine. The back wheels have a lot more room than the front.

My tires have a section width of 9.5 inches and there is at least 1/2 inch clearance to frame with tires turned left and right.

I do have a relocated upper control arm and 620lb front springs.

looking at section width for the tires you list they will be a tenth of an inch wider on the front

I guess check and make sure your front tires are good for a 7 inch rim

It took me forever to pick out rims and tires too.

Ok here they are.  Everything clears fine.  Could have gone with more rubber on the back.

Nice looking car and wheels...not sure if you know this but your rear spoiler is on backwards. Here is a pic from another thread of David's 11k miles 73.

Jeff, I don’t believe that Wes’s spoiler is on backwards. It looks right to me. By the way Wes, the wheels look really nice. Ryan
