Every year for the past 5 years or so, on the break-up day preceding the Christmas close-down period, my workplace hosts a car show for employees to showcase their cars. Out of about 250 employees that work there, we manage to scrape up a fairly good proportional quantity of eclectic automobiles, motorcycles and other assorted memorabilia. I was there representing the 71-73 Mustang contingent of course. I thought I'd share a few pics of yesterday's event to give forum members a look-see at what average Australian auto enthusiasts are into!

The show was judged by a couple of blokes from a nearby hydraulics firm that we deal with, and they declared the winner to be the old orange original FB Holden Ute that was parked next to my Mustang. It was an ex-Sydney Airport maintenance vehicle that the current owner had rescued from an assured rusty death in a back paddock in the middle of nowhere.

I wonder, does anybody else's workplace do something similar?

That sounds like a cool idea.

When the weather is nicer a lot of folks I work with daily drive classics and or oddball stuff to work. Not an official show or anything but you will see some pretty neat stuff in the parking lot. I’ll drive my 82’ GMC pickup in every once in a while, usually in the dead of winter when the snow is too much for my 2wd. It is rusty and crusty but fun to drive.

Someday in future land the Mustang will be together enough to drive...

Sorry everyone, the links all worked last night in the preview but looks like google images dropped the ball shortly thereafter.

I've moved them all to another image hosting site, let me know if these ones aren't working either....

Ya I can see all the pics now and I must say very impressive! Thanks for posting all of those pics too. You guys have some very nice cars and trucks. Plus all the bikes and other stuff, very cool!

That's a nice turn out for a couple hundred people at your company. I like the Toranas, especially the XU1, although I could do with that Lancia in the outdoor pic. Whats the story on the sidehack racer?

Not a bad bunch of cars from 250 workers, great of the boss to put on a show

My personal favorite is your Mustang though I do like any older vehicle still driven

Unfortunately I only work with 10 people and the only one with an old vehicle is unable to bring it to work yet, unfinished project!

Nice cars and pics. Do your co-workers know you are hiding a rare Sprint under that yellow paint ? :coolphotos:
Thanks! I did mention on the spec sheet that it was a Sprint, even included a pic of an unmolested Sprint when I submitted the car data sheet to the organisers, but they left the picture out when they printed the data sheet so nobody saw it.....

Awesome!! The Boss must be a nice guy to put on a show like this. Some very interesting vehicles there that we don't see here.

Thanks for posting,

Geoff.
No worries, glad you like the pics! Yes, the company I work for is pretty good to it's employees and we have some pretty good conditions :)

Not sure what the story was on the racer, somebody at my workplace must be into them. Whoever it is, they are very brave to be in that sport!

The XU1 is a tribute car, but a bloody nice one though!

Yes, not a bad result for 250 employees. The factory that I work for makes these, so it's probably natural that so many workers with mechanical and vehicular interests are employed at my workplace.

A very nice turn out indeed. The white 1971 Torino GT is beautiful. I am biased as my son and I restored one for his first car. Thanks for sharing. Chuck
