Is there a resistor between the battery and the coil on a 351 cleveland? Its been rebuilt and I’m getting ready to run it on a stand to break it in. Just don’t know if it can be straight 12 volts or if it needs a resistor. It don’t show one on the wiring diagram. Right now it’s just set up to run the stock points and condenser.

Yes, it is there to protect the points. You can probably run off of the battery for the 20 minutes or so of engine break-in, though.

oh ya I see that now ..im having a simula problem myself..if you do run a direct wire to the batt to your coil wire maybe the wire is to old and dry rotted when I did that the wire burned up all from the coil to the points ,be careful
