Hi All;

I installed the "Y" pipe, exhaust pipe, muffler.

For some reason the muffler hangs very low (at least 5 inches).

Tonight I removed the e3xhaust and tried to turn it to make things fit but it didn't work

The "Y" pipe has very little clearance to go any further up and the exhaust pipe/muffler seem very stiff and have almost no "play".

What am I doing wrong?

I was hoping it was the orientation of the exhaust pipe.

I will add a pix.

You are right, the muffler should be rotated so it is parallel to the ground. If you tightened the clamps already it will difficult to rotate it, as the clamps form a groove in the pipes and muffler spouts.

The Silencer is loose. I can easily rotate it but that is not the problem.

It is not even close to fitting in. There is something else wrong.

Any chance the y pipe is reversed (left to right) or the exhaust pipe is reversed (front to back?

It can only go in one way.

Looks like your mid-pipe is upside down. Here's a link to the pipe on MU

The short bent section on the left is the front, that connects to the midpipe. It should bend UP into the tunnel. It's hard to tell from the angle of the pic, but it looks like yours is coming down off the Y-pipe.

Can you post a pic from the side?

Also, your Y-pipe doesn't look right, looks like it was made in a muffler shop? Missing a lot of bends.

I got the entire exhaust system from Mustangs Unlimited.  They are sure it is the right parts.

However something is very wrong.

As you can see, there is only one way the mid pipe can go on because of the upturn at the "Y" pipe.

It wouldn't be the first time someone bent a pipe wrong. All the right bends, just not in the correct alignment. I've had to cut and rotate them, and then weld or clamp.

Now the exhaust pipe will not fit on because the silencer is too far aft and the exhaust has to loop over the axle.

I really need to get this sorted-out. I could have rented it out several times this summer to Movies being made in Atlanta.

This exhaust thing is all that is standing between me and having it fully operational.

Any ideas?

Roy
