Fast Pantera on Hillclimb event

While not a Mustang, this Pantera GTS sure hooks up and handles well on this hillclimb event!  I hope you guys enjoy!!

Italiansupercarvideo and I filmed Giuliano Palmieri behind the wheel of his De Tomaso Pantera GTS Group 4 at the Bologna-San Luca 2018 Hillclimb. In the video, you can see some details of the car and the action during the race: launch with smoking tires, acceleration, flybys, fast driving, curves, and onboard race. Listen to the sound of the V8 engine with straight pipes driven full throttle. 

Driver: Giuliano Palmieri

Engine: Ford Cleveland (1972) V8, four barrel Holley carburator type D1ZF FA, 500 bhp. Gearbox: ZF Type 5 DS-25/2. This hillclimb specialist Pantera was built and is maintained by Autoelite of Maranello, Italy. This Pantera won four Italian Historic Hillclimb Championship in its class in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017. Mr Palmieri advises that this Pantera has won more than 50 races under his ownership.

Very impressive! Shouldn't those guys in orange clothes and safety vests be working instead of sitting on the side of the road watching the race?   :P

Remember, that is a built racing motor. Panteras are cool (as I said before, but can't say it enough until I'm given one to shut me up....), however, stock the motors are not necessarily the bees knees. 

I have several components of a 65k mile Pantera motor, 4v heads, rods, pistons, crank, cam, etc. The heads are nice and clean, but as I found out inspecting them they are the small valve, open chamber 4v heads and dished pistons. I suspect the car they came off was slower than the one in the video.

People on the side, all traffic stopped, a pimped 351 under the foot, fat slicks tires, narrow old streets casting the v8 screams...

That must be some seriously "blood pressure" experience behind the wheel!

I went to buy a Pantera for $10,000 in 1987. I was convinced I had to have one, until I drove it. I walked away. As an investment I should have bought it. Oh well. Chuck

Shifting at 7K+rpms too, nice. From the specs listed its a 500 HP engine, well within the capability of a Cleveland.
