My Car
73 Mach One Q code
Hi ,

I will pick up my 73 next Week . She is equipped with 205/60/15  (rear and front) and 15/7 Magnum rings.

This is far too small for me, and doesn't fit the line of the car.

She seems to be stock (no modification on the springs, for exemple..).

What size can i choose for the BF Goodrich ?

Front 215/60/15

Rear 235/60/15

Can i Put 235/70/15 for the rear ?

I have seach the forum, and didn't find the rigth answer..

Any help will be appreciated.

Vincent.

Factory tire size for the 71-72 cars with 15X7 Magnums was the F60-15 tire, which had approximately a 26" diameter. The closest modern radial tire size is the 235/60R15 or the 245/60R15, depending upon the manufacturer. I would run the 245/60R15 from BFG as they look more substantial than the 235. The 235/70 will be far too tall at 28" and look out of place on such a narrow tire.

Thanks for the infos, i think i will play it safe :

front 215/60 , rear 235/60..

I'll post, as soon as i can.

Not that it matters with your tire selection, but all 73 models came from the factory with 14 inch tires of various widths and sidewall heights. Steel rims were all 5.5 x 14. Aluminum slots were 6 x 14. So if you have 15 inchers on your 73 they were not from the factory.

The 215 will look small on the front. If your looking for that staggered look I would go 235/60 up front and 245 out back.

I'm will be running 245/60/15 on sevens up front and 255/60/15 on eights out back.

Has your car got power steering? If not then too large on the front might be tougher when manoeuvring at slow speeds. Have you a spare wheel? If so then might it be better to have all four tyres the same size so you can change any if you puncture? Otherwise maybe 225/60 on front and either 235/60 or 245/60 on rear?

Whereabouts in France are you? I'm in the Vienne dept 86

No power steering, and 54, near Nancy..

@Hemikiller, why not...let's try 225 on the front...

Yes, It's Magnum wheels, i have been informed by the seller that the wheel have been changed..

I've never seen Magnum 500s look bad on anything. Some depends on what the offsets and back spacing are. The Wheel Vintiques for example have back spacing for 1969-1970 Mustangs. A little too much in the rear and not enough in the front. Are the front and rear wheels the same width?

And as i need a speedmeter in km/h, and to avoid any speed limit issue, i will use this : (or something close) it is not dependant of the size of the wheels.

Well.. I got the car yesterday, and drove about 160 miles with her. Quite perfect...

Finally , we put 235/60 and 225/60. I like this, the car looks better..
