Hi,

 I was wondering if anyone has seen or heard of about a 73' Mustang 429 Coupe.

Thank you

:D

The first 4 tell you that. the 5th is the engine code. Also is the stamping on the hear D8VE-A2A? if so someone is feeding you a line of BS. D8VE heads are from a 78 460 truck motor.

It is D3VE-A2A

D3VE - A2A heads are 460 heads. The D8 heads I mentioned in earlier post are just a later recast of the D3 heads. That coupe came from the factory with a 302.

5th Digit...

F=302 2v

H=351 2v

Q=351 4v

L=250 1V (inline 6)

Ok... the whole point is that the Ford Racing was shut down in 1973 before they were to release a bunch of vehicles. The engine is a 73. So, I get that you can get the 302 2 v off of that vin. The point and situation that I am trying to find are people that know about this. Because I have run into 2 people now that have the story and information of the 12 coupe 429s that came out of factory labeled as other. How can this occur if there was no such thing as a 429 wedge built-in 1973.

Most likely this did not happen, here is the reason I say this. in 1971 (the only year the 429 was available in the mustang) they only made 15 total coupes with the 429. Plus Ford pulled out of racing a the end of 1972, they did not just decided on the last day to pull the plug, this was planned well in advance and the programs were winding down prior to this. While anything is possible, I have to say, IMHO this is not and the car is just a 302 coupe someone dropped a 460 into.
