Hello!

I'd like to keep my original PS pump, just have it checked out and rebuilt.  It's a Ford/Thompson style, 1971 off my Mach 1.

Can anyone suggest a rebuilder they have personally been satisfied with without breaking the bank?

Thanks!

Scott

I recently sent my power steering box to the guys below because it seemed beyond my knowledge and others both here and other sites have recommended them . They seemed to have a reasonable price and were decent to talk to. You send in your parts and your parts get returned rebuilt. They even have an "extreme detailing" if you want it. Pulleys for the pump or pitman arm can be left on.

Now, with all that being said, I am expecting my returned, refurbished steering box to arrive tomorrow, actually before the time estimate they gave.

So, I can give my actual impressions after that.

If I'm satisfied with that, I'll probably send them my power steering pump to be refurbished next.

I used Randy at a Precision Parts. He is referenced several times in long ago threads and as of this summer was still taking projects (he rebuilds more than just p/s pumps). You can’t be in a hurry — I think it may be a one person operation and he’s pretty busy, but the price was excellent and the pump came back looking nearly new.

I know this is an old thread but I referenced it to locate a business to rebuild the PS pump in my 71 Boss and wanted to share my experience. I sent a rusty 50 year old pump to Dan at ChockoStang and in one week he returned a concours quality pump! Cost was $130 plus $30 shipping.  I highly recommend.
