I pulled off my triple cluster in the middle of the dash to replace the circuit wiring and bulbs. I put everything back and reconnected the speedometer cable. Now the speedometer needle jumps a lot and I didnt have this problem before. Anyone have any ideas what I need to do?

Same problem here after I removed my gauge cluster. Only cause I can think of is not having it reconnected all the way.

I remember it was a pain to dis- and reconnect so I haven’t bothered fixing it...

Mine did that for a long time but in my case it was the cable and after I replaced it no more bouncing. In your case, yeah make sure it's all the way connected both ends.

If someone put liquid lube on the cable during cold weather it gets stiff and makes the needle jumpy. I would pull the cable loose from transmission and also at the dash. Pull the cable out and clean with brake and parts cleaner. Also flush out the cable housing blow out with air.

You should only use graphite lube on the cable and also on your door locks and such so that the cold weather does not affect it.

Rub the graphite on the cable as you go back in from under car is probably cleanest way.

Here is a link to show you what to look for. Any auto supply will carry it.
