71-72 front bumper reinforcement

Used versions of this part have been a hard find for years since they were often badly rusted or collision damaged.  NOS versions were often priced like they were made from a rare metal "Unobtanium" (Thanks to Eric-Mr 4x4 for use of his patented word)! But finally, there is a long-overdue repo part now available. I would check with fellow forum member Don @ Ohio Mustang Supply and check out his offering on a new one. http://www.ohiomustang.com/store/order_page.asp?itemid=3363

If you still want to try to locate a used one first, the part # is D1ZZ-17A792-A. This part is used for both chrome and urethane front bumpers.  Don (Ohio Mustang Supply) and Mike @ Motor City Mustang also have parts cars and may still have some used ones that are looking for a new home.

Good luck with your project.  :)

Steve

No Officer...I really don't know how fast I was going, my speedometer stopped at 140!

If you can't find one. . . I took a tracing off of one a few years ago. Not saying it is good enough for a show car replacement, but could be used to make a functional part

note it is one side only, the other side was a perfect mirror image. The measurement from the outsides of the license plate tabs is exactly 12" on my tracing

I was going to convert my 73 front to a 71/72 but decided against it.  I had one of the reinforcement pieces.  Let me take a look and see if I still have it.  If I do, will get back with you here.
