1972 MUSTANG
Hello.

 Just signed up.

Can anyone tell me what kind of 1972 mustang this is?

I know is not a Mach 1. It could be a Sprint, but I haven't seen one with this bumper.

Body is in great shape, it should be a good restoration project.

Thank you in advance.

If you contact Marti Auto Reports, https://www.martiauto.com/martireports.cfm, for 18.00 you'll get a report that gives the basic information on the car. You'll need the VIN from the door or dash. If we had a picture of the data plate on the door, we could maybe give you some information for free.

Welcome from Ohio.  Looks like a good project car.  As RV mentioned, your best bet is a Marti report for full details or you can decipher your using the following. https://7173mustangs.com/wiki/1972-mustangs/
Thank you.

With regard to your signature: "The only dumb question is the one not asked"

I used to work as law enforcement, we had a morning meeting everyday befire we started a shift.

At the end of each meeting, however was in charge of the shift will always ask if anyone had any questions, followed by: Don't be afraid to asj, t
he only dumb question is the one not asked"

Well, happened that a new guy (on his late 70's), will always rise his hand and ask really dumb questions, every time. To the point that they were afraid to ask if anybody had questions, forgot about the statement of "
The only dumb question is the one not asked", it was never said again.

To attempt top answer to your question on one photo

.. it looks like "02"  body sportsroof, if fastback  .. usually 351 Cleveland 2V = H code engine

the sprint had the poly front bumper and seat blue white knitted vinyl.

...the wheels look original dog dish though. ... need more pics + VIN

Levy,

This partial VIN tells me, it's an early 1972 Model Sportsroof, built in autumn 1971, that has left Dearborn with a 302-2V engine

No more to identify.

and a warm welcome to this forum from Germany.

Doesn’t look like Sprint on outside, easy way is to check door sticker for trim = HB
