What finish on 72 front license plate bracket??

Question

I am trying to get all the bolt on pieces ready for my 72 vert build. The license plate bracket came out of molasses today and is ready to paint. What was the correct finish? Semi gloss black or Slop gray?  I have my original 73 license plate bracket that I took off the day I bought the car and it is slop grey. This is not a show car just easy to put the right finish on when doing.

The ones I have all appear to have been the black dip paint.  Not sure what it is called but that standard black that usually has sags in it.

I repainted mine with a semi gloss black.

I bought an NOS piece from Greene’s and it’s a semi gloss black.

Service parts always had black or red oxide. Production was different. I had hoped someone would have an un restored original. This is not a show car but just as easy to do right as wrong.
