This subject keeps coming up, and every "expert's" information seems to be different. I used the data from the AMA specifications for 1969 through 1973 to develop the attached spreadsheet, which gives the weights, weight distributions, and body dimension for these years. There is a tab that gives overall comparisons and individual tabs for each year with more details. When I find similar  (and accurate)information for 1965 -1968 I'll update it.

I just reposted actual weight of my 72 Mach1, PS, PDB, AC, 351C, C6, trans cooler, deep pan, 8 quarts of oil, and 13 gallons of gas=3583 pounds. Chuck

Thanks, Chuck. It sounds like the AMA weights are accurate, a.c., PS, PB, and competition suspension adds 153 pounds, which makes it 3 pounds different.

The 1970 data for 351C and 428CJ seems off to me. There can not be a 461 pound difference in weight between those two engines. Chuck

The problem appears to be in the weight of the '70 Mach 1, it's weight is shown as 260 pounds more than the base fastback, for '71 the difference is just 51 pounds. For '70 the 351 weighs 209 pounds more than the 302 and the 428 is 412 pounds more,, for '71 the 351 is 220 pounds more and the 429 is 456 pounds more.

Finding really accurate engine weights is tough. Also the 429 is heavier than a 428 by about 100-120 pounds not the other way around. Chuck

Yeah, they show the 429 being only 44 pounds more than the 428. I have fairly reliable engine weights and they show that the 429 weighs 95 pounds more than the 428 (720 pounds & 625 pounds).
