Do I still need the steering fluid cooler with a Saginaw pump?

I was looking at my engine bay today and thinking about the steering cooler that sits on top of the compressor. When I adapted a Saginaw steering pump in place of the Ford pump I piped the stock steering cooler. Then I read somewhere that it is not needed with a Saginaw pump. Would anyone know if this is the case? It will be nice to remove it if I don't need it to help remove the engine bay clutter.

I have been running a Saginaw pump with no cooler for a couple of years with no problems. Unless you are road racing or something I don't believe it's really necessary.
