Hello from Germany,

I have a 351 C 2v in my Convertible the Engine Block Number is D2AE-CA and 3C30.

Year of Construction of the Mustang is 04/1973.

That the Engine from 1972 is clear to me. But what does the whole number mean ?

Special 3C30 ? ?

I believe 3C30 wants to tell you, that your engine block was cast on a Friday.

3C30 = Star Wars droid.

3C30 is the date code in year/month/day format

1973 - March - 30th

D2AE-CA was the late 71 model year thru end of 351C production in 74 block casting number. Could be 2 bolt or 4 bolt.

If you look on the back of the block below the head gasket surface on the driver's side, you should find a partial VIN stamp. It's in Year - assembly plant - unit number format - ie: 3F1xxxxx. It will not include the engine or body code.

2 or 4 bolt can probably only be seen when the oil pan is dismantled....

A USB endoscope stuck up into the oil pan through the drain plug should give you a view of the mains. 351C are 4 bolt on all five.
