Can't move shifter from Drive to 11st or 2nd.

Thanks for response Kilgon,

A little history about shifter. Until about seven months ago shifter movement was very loose and sloppy. An old plastic bushing was replaced and everything was working perfect again. Shifting through all positions smoothly.

Last couple weeks have been reinstalling interior including console assembly (2 pieces).

1.Moved Shifter to neutral position as instructed by shop manual .

2.To install shift indicator console the T handle must be carefully removed by loosening Allan screw and slowly lift handle off lever.

3. After installing console I reversed  method to reinstall T handle. Moved shifter to (P)ark, then to (R)everse and (N)eutral (D)rive but when I moved to 2 and 1 it would not go. as I pulled back from  D to 2 it felt like something interfering not allowing lever to move to 2.

4. Went back, removed console looked closely down shifter box but could not see anything that appeared to interfere.

Thank you in advance for anything you think I may have forgot.

Regards,  Outrider4

Does the detent pawl move when you push the button on the handle? If so, and moves high enough to clear the detent ledges, your transmission shift rod and lever may have somehow gotten moved from the neutral position. I would double check to make sure that when the shifter is in neutral the transmission shift lever is also in neutral.

Thanks to both Mjlan and Don for your input. I will check the detent. Will check to make sure the transmission and lever are in neutral. Making me think maybe the transmission was in DRIVE not NEUTRAL.

Will get back to you soon.

Thanks again

It turns out that all I needed to do is put the key in and turn to ON and all is good once again. Shifting through all shift positions. Thanks again for your input earlier.
