Hi All!
As an offshoot of this week's Weekly Fun Question, it has come to our attention that the Ford Toploader Close Ratio Transmission (RUG-AW1) was available in the 1971 351 4V Mustangs. Several sources on the "Net" indicate that this was a reality.
This information is at odds with the statistical data published in Marti's "Mustang ...by the Numbers (1967 -1973)" which shows that the 1971 429s were the ONLY Mustangs during the 1971 - 1973 period to receive the close ratio (2.32) gear ratio transmission. According to that Source, all others 4-Speeds received the Wide ratio (2.78) transmission.
I am curious as to whether any of you might have what might be one of the 2.32 Ratio Transmission in your 351 4V 1971 Mustangs (from the Factory).
Thanks!
BT
