Tutone Hood paint question

What does it mean? Part black with body-color?

Pretty much. Look at any of the Mach 1 pictures on this site (or the Boss pictures) and you'll see what the TuTone scheme is.

SM3570 is right or you can also see the differences if you look at pics of droptop73's convertible, he has the Boss style hood paint. Mine has the tu-tone for Mach1's, convertibles (if ordered) and I think it was an option for coupes as well.

I believe for 71 and 72, the two-tone hood paint was availible only as part of the complete ram-air package.

In 73, FORD made the two-tone hood paint optional without the actual functional ram-air. In any case, the hood pins were always included with the two-tone paint, so any two-tone 'NACA' hood that does not have the hood pins is technically incorrect.

I stand INCORRECTED!! LOL

guys, is the two tone hood made in actually 2 different paint colors or is it a base color with a vinyl applied later?

The hood is 2 paint colors. You can get vinyl stripes, but not the hood.

Actually the last time I seen it Sat night it was being used as a giant drink coaster

But sadly, accurate information on the black-painted hood has been minimal. This has caused many to end up with Mustangs that sport oddly applied or highly glossy topcoats.

I would agreee but some like myself prefer the gloss look as to the matte/flat.

My hood is matte.I like the gloss better.

If you look at this hood did not get the front right.

The other picture I attached is closer to original.

I like your hood as opposed to the Ford display. I know it's not "right", but I don't care. I'm not looking at a concours resto in my garage, that's for sure.
