Were all original ram air units plastic? I recently saw an underhood unit in fiberglass and then saw an after market unit online also in fiberglass. Didn't think those were original.

Thanks.

Mine sure looks like fiberglass and I know it's original. Think they were that way do to the heat. But I'm not willing to cut into it to find out.

Under hood unit? Are you referring to the under hood plenum or the air cleaner itself?

My original plenum is fiberglass, and my original air cleaner is steel.

Fiberglass - just like the original radiator shroud also - not plastic like the repros.

My under hood plenum is fiberglass, "it appears" old and original but I'm the 3rd owner of the car so who knows. I've seen other Mustangs with plastic plenums which are obviously reproductions.
