Hey Mike -

 

Bumping a thread (sometimes abbreviated BTT for Bump To the Top) simply means pushing the thread back up to the top of the unread posts. Many users read their posts by clicking on "View Unread Posts" so they can see what's been posted since their last visit. Bumping a thread puts it back in the category of unread and recent posts.
