Depends on the transmission. Do you have an FMX?. If so yes the backup light switch is located under the shifter bezel. Its a big blue semi circular device. The wiring coming out of the bottom of the shifting housing runs up the tunnel to the firewall and pkugs into.the main underhood harness. Its a 4 prong connector. The backup light switch has a small tab that sticks down from the switch and alligns to a square hole on the chrome shifter arm. It only goes in one way so theres really no adjustment. Unless that tab broke off. Also check the grounds on the bulb sockets. Mine never worked until i cleaned them. Hope this.helps

Also, put the shifter in park. then get under the car and disconnect the shift rod that goes from the shifter to the transmission. push the shift mechanism on the transmission in to the park position. now re connect the rod. after that your shift indicator shouldn't be off

You're right, of course about the FMX, only the C4 and C6 have them on the transmission. However, if you have a 429 with a C6, it'll also be under the shifter bezel.
