My Car
73 Mustang Convertible
Born an I-6, spent the teenage, 20 and 30 years as a 302, but at 40 will reach full potential as a 351C.
How do I get my car door to shut like it is a 2012 Mustang?

I have changed out all the rubber on a previous auto, but just never felt the love when I closed the car door. Very mechancial, grinding sound.

Do I have to remove door panels and tighten up the window? What is rattling in that door?

Once I put the new door weatherstrips on my convert the door closing sound was great. If you getting a rattle when you close the door the cushons that snug up against the glass need adjusting. Pretty easy once you get the door panel off.

Step 1..Coat the entire inside of the door with rust bullet

Step 2 ..Install Raam Mat on the inner structure of the door & the inner structure of the lock pillar http://www.raamaudio.com/

Step 3..fill the impact bar with expanding foam

Make sure you have new hinge bushings & pins..New weather strips..& you can use strips of velcro as a anti rattle pad for any rods etc that rest on or are next to metal where it could touch & rattle. I did all of the above on my camaro & it has that nice "Ka Tunk" sound like a new car when the doors are closed.

Thumbs up, here! New weatherstripping, and adjusting the felts and guides should snug it up.

Mine almost pops my ears when I close the door. One of the things I really love about my Mach is how quiet it is inside, even though it's pretty loud outside.

I have no stereo, so no rattles is a must for me!

Also don't forget to check your striker bushing, I've seen plenty of our cars with the striker bushing worn completely off which means metal on metal.
