Hi there again! Any thoughts why when I start my 351C when it is hot, there is a ticking noise sounds like it is from lifters for about 3-5 seconds until everything quiets down? It doesnt do it cold, only when hot,

I am running 10W30 Quaker state

That thin oil explanation seems quite probable!

Thank you

I like 15W40 in these old engines. Diesel oils are also a good choice with the higher zinc content. I ran Rotella 15W40 in a 4WD Ford truck 351W right up until I totaled it with 185K miles on the odometer and the engine was still using no measurable amount of oil between changes. (driver ran a stop sign, I swerved to miss him, caught curb, blew out tire, hit telephone pole, pushed battery into firewall, walked away.)

Make sure your oil filter has an anti-feedback valve, so all the oil galleries don't drain back into the oil pan, which then takes longer to refill all of them on start-up.
