Retired sergeant from Houston Police Department after 39 years and change. Was a hostage negotiator for 20 of those years. I now enjoy NOT being on call 24/7/365 days a year.

Went to work in 1975 driving a 72 Mach 1, left work in 2015 driving a 1971 429CJ Mach 1, what could be better than that?

Mike I feel like a pup. Just clocked over 33 years here - started at 19 and have 7 1/2 years until mandatory retirement. Only on call every second week - keeps me off the booze every second week ::thumb::

IT Manager for a large healthcare group in Sarasota, FL. 15 years with the same company and still going so I guess that's something to be proud of. IT and healthcare are a good mix and definitely good money...but NOT quite enough to supply my increasing need for parts and car upgrades! :)

Not 302 or 351, just basic own Boss.

Best part is to no longer have a manager on my back telling me whatever managers do tell (and in my field, do not even understand)

How to buy a '71-73 Mustang:

Rule #1: Assume all classic car sellers are guilty until proven innocent.

Rule #2: No classic car dealer is ever innocent; thus, they are all guilty.

Congratulations Mario! I was a sergeant in the Houston PD for almost 40 years and retired in 2015. You are not retired yet but you are close. I don’t have to tell you because I know you already know this, don’t told let your guard down for a minute. You will find even when you are retired you will still be assessing and planing what you would do should something happen. That’s just in our blood and always will be.

I did google you. You never gave up and you survived. I salute you sir, you are a hero in every sense of the word. I am proud of you sir.

I am an engine builder, and do the finished assembly, the shop I work at has various other employees that are in charge of the majority of machining operations. Being carefull not to actually say the name of the shop, it's been in business since'65, and is very much a performance oriented shop....although since engine work is our specialty, I'd say performance vs restoration jobs run 50/50. The span of engines I've built covers over 100 years of types, the earliest I think was a 1903 Olds, and engine work continues to todays engines. I've overhauled every engine in every car I've ever owned. Went to school at night to get an Aircraft Mechanic's License ( A&P ). I worked as an aircraft mechanic for a short time before an offer I couldn't refuse, lured me back into automotive work. Even years ago, when I was younger, not this line of business, I was always hobbying in engines. Like the police officer stated, for some, it seems it's just kinda in your blood. Don't tell my Mom....she thinks I'm a piano player in a whore house.....
