351C IDLE SPEED PROBLEM, FMX CLUNK?

Thanks. I'll keep this in mind as I get back into this issue I'm trying to solve. I need to research the "fast idle" settings on the carb, something I am unfamiliar with. This could explain my RPM difference between the engine being cold or warmed up.. Thanks much

351C IDLE SPEED PROBLEM, FMX CLUNK?

Wow...that's a very nice offer! However I am up in the east bay area. I went to Porsche Rennsport 7 at Laguna Seca so I've kinda gotten away from the Mach for a bit... I am about to research the "fast idle" settings. I'm not sure how this is supposed to work on this carb. Unfamiliar with ever...

351C IDLE SPEED PROBLEM, FMX CLUNK?

Just signed in and saw last replies. Thnx all. I've had my '67 for 42 yrs. Many other stangs and Fords in our family over the years. Never heard a transmission engage like this one. When I got my 72, I later found out it had sat outside for over 10 years. I did a fluid change on the tranny...

351C IDLE SPEED PROBLEM, FMX CLUNK?

Regarding the harsh clunk when shifting, at idle, into Reverse.. (and into Drive, but not as bad as reverse) Fluid level is good kick down is adjusted properly Vacuum modulator tests good U joints are new there is some slop in the differential, but my other Stang has more slop, and it doesn't...

351C IDLE SPEED PROBLEM, FMX CLUNK?

Camshaft unknown. Mild, from sale info. To answer earlier posts, (mrgmhale), carb is 4160 series Holley. 7154 stamped. No electric choke. Hard to find info on 7154 number. ANYWAY, As I said yesterday on my 3:19 p.m. post, I believe I have a a transmission problem. I just realized I could post...

351C IDLE SPEED PROBLEM, FMX CLUNK?

Precision Transmission...cracked me up! Seriously read that from a post from 7173mustangs from about 2013. Precision, assuming you are a transmission"guy", I have a question. Here's where I'm at..did 5 minutes ago. Warmed the car up. Lowered the idle to 600rpm. When I shift into Reverse, the...

351C IDLE SPEED PROBLEM, FMX CLUNK?

OK Thank you everybody... so far! It's always hard on the initial post to include all the info. To much writing... Initial timing is at 6BTDC new u joints, ect. blah blah As a few said, I will look into fast idle issue. Not something I ever had to deal with. Idle is way not right! I've had a...

351C IDLE SPEED PROBLEM, FMX CLUNK?

Hi everyone, This question is about idle speed...and tranny clunk. I rebuilt the Holley 4 barrel 8 years ago. It has always acted like this, so not a new issue. There is a major difference, 300-400 rpm, between idle in park and idle in gear. When the engine is cool, idling at 600, putting it...

    Good aftermarket interior panels?

My door panels were made by Dashes Direct. You mentioned plastic panels and door cards, so I wasn't sure if you have sports interior or not. The panels fit correct and the door cranks aren't too tight to the panel. Lot's of work though. Fitment of both door handles, stapling on weather strip...

Holley 4160 secondary fuel bowl leak question

Hi everyone, The "plug" on the secondary fuel bowl of my Holley 4160 is leaking. This is not a component of rebuild kits Quick internet search seems to say JB Weld will seal it. Or buy a replacement fuel bowl? Anyone ever deal with this issue? Any thoughts/advice? Thanks

Did I Ruin My Ram Air Hood Springs?

No I didn't try Rich's (rackerm) idea. I really don't want to pull the hinges off the car. Still trying to decide next step. As 1973-Mach 1 stated above, he lubed up his hinges and his springs hold up his hood. The hinges have been on the car since May 2109 and I've always had a problem opening...

Did I Ruin My Ram Air Hood Springs?

Well.. Sprayed every hinge point with a quick shot of brake cleaner...which sucks as it eats the paint off of all my fresh parts as I try to control the spray. Then I used dish soap (WD-40/grease cutter) and hot water and washed all the hinge points. No luck. I open the hood and it will close...
