Hooking up volt gauge , the red and yellow wires on rear of ALT gauge should I tape them up ?

Hi all, so if I understand this correctly, the only way to get a key'd hot 12v feed in my 71 is to either tap into the only 1 wire at the ignition switch that has 12v with key on or hook up a Pertronix relay because it can operate on slightly lower voltage to allow 12v to be tapped from solenoid?

Found this at local Mustang shop site. It covers all early year mustangs including 7173. It worked well for me , hopefully it can help someone else

Hi all, I purchased my first 71 Mustang back in 1974. It was the 429 CJ model. raising a family at 19 and trying to keep that car was not possible. Fast forward kids are grown and I purchased this car 6 years ago. No 429CJ here but the Cleveland is a lot of fun too.

any advice renewing clutch spring under dash? I have the cluster and gauges out now because im doing other work and can see that the spring is broken
