Has anyone converted their tank to a half inch fuel line? As usual, guys make 1/2" fuel sending units but only for the 65-70 cars. Would welding a separate 1/2" port or -8AN fitting onto a spot on the sending unit cover be acceptable? I would just have to find a way to put a sock filter on the...

Btw, to the original poster, there is no flow comparison between a 870 Avenger and 850 Demon. Holley dry flows, where as Demon wet flows. Demons flow WAY more than holley in their relative CFM figures.

That's interesting (and good catch) BenD. I have two demons (mighty demon 850 annular and 750 Race demon) and their quality is superior to the two holleys I have, including a custom Biggs holley and a Street Avenger. I don't know, as I've never seen or read about that, but how much difference...

You definitely need a dial bore gauge to .0001 to accurately measure your bearings. When I built my 408w, I compared the plastigauge to my mitutoyo and the accuracy of the plastigauge wasn't close. While you want the crank and bearings to be of similar temperatures when your measure, it isn't...

That is 'pre-ignition' and if that were to truly happen, it only takes a few revolutions before severe damage is done. Detonation (or post-ignition) is actually a late burning of the fuel after the initial spark. The damage comes from a second flame front (after plug spark) severely heating up...

If you are building up a lot of crank case pressure ie blowby from worn rings or high RPMs, and it isn't vented by pvc, vacuum pump or breathers, it will greatly accelerate a seal problem.

I sounds like timing is off. OR, do you have the wires in the correct order on the cap/plugs? Are you using a 289/302 firing order cam or a 351w firing order? Remember, distributor turns counter clockwise... Chaz

Did you run one of your pipes under the axle?

IIRC woody likes his endplay around .004, while in my Comp Cam specs it said for it to be .005-.01. I went with .004 with my end play. I also found it's best to check it with the cam OUT of the car, with the sprocket/cam plate/cam and using feeler gauges to give you correct end play. Chaz
