    If it is changing while you are driving it sounds like you have a vacuum leak. Inspect the lines for cracks/breaks.

    You have to bypass the stock coil wire (red with green stripe) by running a new wire or splicing a new wire in place of the resistor part of the wire. If you trace the wire out of the ignition switch you can tell when the resistor starts because the wire gets fatter. Not easy to see in those...

    Inconsistent Idle

    As Superbond said check for 12 volts going to the petronix. This might require bypassing the internal resistor wire that connects the ignition switch to the + side of the coil. The resistor wire cut the voltage down to prolong point life but will play havoc on a petronix.

    71 owned since 73. Driven in high-school. 225,000 miles. 351C-V4, air and auto. Engine stretch to 408 cdi (494 horse power) and AOD transmission. 3.00 rear gear swapped for 3.70 Ford posi. Absolute blast to drive. Always a conversation starter when we take it out.
