    Tachometer connection

My ‘71 has a single wire coming out of my non functioning tachometer with an L connector on the end.  It’s approx 2’ long.  Am I suppose to get an extension to get it to the +side of the coil?  Is that all there is?  Thanks

Steering leak update! The leak has stopped! Although I tightened the fitting as much as I could, the leak persisted, and not knowing what I should do, short of removing the steering Box and replacing the seat, a friend of mine told me that being a high pressure hose, the fitting had to be very...

Ok.  I’ll dress it and reinstall.  If that doesn’t work, I’ll try the seat change option.  I don’t like thee idea of removing the box, but I do want to do it correctly.  I’ll have to look for instructions or a video on changing the seat.  Thanks for your input.

I was considering lightly dressing the face of the flair and using a nylon or other soft washer to see if it seals.  If I replaced the seat, Can it be done without removing the box?

I actually used a sink faucet wrench to break the nut loose..   I used a cutoff 11/16 wrench after that.  It is hard to get at!

Hmmm. Just looked at the flare pic. I do see what looks like a small ding on the surface

Thanks for the reply. I’ll have to see if I can get a closer look at the brassy area. You would think that if that was the case though, that there would be a notch, burr or something showing on the flared surface. Sure don’t want to change steering box! ?

On the pressure hose fitting where it threads into the steering box, I have a leak.   I have removed it, checked the threads, everything looks fine.  Re-installed & tightened it, still leaks!  Is ther suppose to be an o ring there?  I have looked at pictures of the hose and they do not show...
