    Gauge lights go out

I think adding a roll bar will fix it!

AOD swap OD question - Answered

For what it’s worth, it’s really hard to tell when it shifts from 3rd to 4th. I have a weird dark spot on the bottom left of the tach, and the engine is already at such a low rpm, it’s just not a certainly it’s doing it. But I’ll try the D selection for a while to see if I like it. I’ve driven...

AOD swap OD question - Answered

Yes, per the 1987 Ford service manual. I understand from other TBird/Mustang owners this is a common complaint. My issue is compounded with 2.7 rear axle.

AOD swap OD question - Answered

Yes, the AOD does not have an electrical OD lockout, but the AODE and 4R70’s type do. I found out, my shifter, which is from my 87, has P R N OD D 1. If i put it in D, it will only do 1-2-3. If i use OD, it will do 1-2-3-OD. When I've driven the car in town, it moves to OD more than I would...

Parts For Sale 351C bolt kit on sale

Hey: I was perusing the Competiton Products website, the on-sale, “Broom” pages, and I saw this: It’s the 351C Complete engine bolt kit. I know lots of 351C’s call this site home.

Front disk brake caliper and rotor replacement search

I have the same pads as Hemikiller, they work great. Be careful of who you get pads from. You’ll see some that say they fit, but I’ve heard from folks here there are issues.

Front disk brake caliper and rotor replacement search

If you don’t have a caliper, take the rotors to a local auto parts store that turns rotors and have them check them for wear. A feel test is ok, but the measurements are best. If you can save the stick(?) rotors, that would be best. Unless you have a need for better braking than stock. If you...

    Thanks to Marks1

Well, your car is safe from a 2 mph accident now, as long as it’s a volkswagen.

    Steering linkage and bushings

For the idle arm, I would go with this unit, it seems the closest to the original: https://secure.cougarpartscatalog.com/71idler.html?sessionthemeid=26

Replacing battery mount area of fender skirt

I can’t quite tell from the pic, but what is the condition of the frame? Lots of times, a long deterioration of that tray can cause the frame below it to become damaged. You should check that out first.

    Oil pump shaft drama

I think everyone of us have done this, we’re just not dumb enough to admit it. All kidding aside, and this memory is from the early 1980’s, I remember a guy who had i think a Pro Mod Pinto, he pulled his distributor and it had the pump shaft I think keyed to the distributor gear. Just another...

AOD swap OD question - Answered

I was perusing my swapped vehicle owners manual, a 1987 TBird, and I saw the OD button function on the shifter. I pulled the 5.0/AOD package for my 73, but I don’t remember seeing any connections on the AOD to keep it from moving into 4th great when I wired it up. Anyone who’s made the AOD swap...
