Index Side Bar and Member Status Updates
Posted by: rocketfoot - 01-26-2011, 07:41 PM - Forum: Site News - Replies (3)

Just added a new side bar to the index page! It has random images from the garage and also a new module that allows you to post status updates when ever you feel like it! You can change status from the index page or from your profile page.

I have a few more ideas for sided bar content but that will be for another day! Smile

  7173mustangs Cinema
Posted by: rocketfoot - 01-25-2011, 06:23 PM - Forum: Site News - Replies (4)

It's no big screen extravaganza, but if you feel like kicking back and watching a good flick...we got you covered! There is now a little movie camera icon in the footer bar that will take you to the 7173Mustangs Cinema! Your movie choices are limited, but I think you will enjoy them!

Click this link or the icon below to check it out! (BYOP=Bring Your Own Popcorn!)

  Region Added to Postbit
Posted by: rocketfoot - 01-24-2011, 02:33 PM - Forum: Site News - No Replies

I added a little plugin that allows us to add our Regions to the postbits! This might come in handy as car show season rolls around!

Just go to your USER CP button up top and select EDIT PROFILE...you'll then see a drop down named Regions. Just select your region from the list and save when done! The regions just happen to be the same as the regions in our car show forum...here is the map for reference:

There are also regions for Canada, Mexico and Europe. Hopefully, regions will turn into full blown chapters one day...so I went ahead and set them up now to test the ground work!

As always, have fun!

Magnum Car of the Month Spotlight Feature now OPEN!
Posted by: rocketfoot - 01-22-2011, 10:14 PM - Forum: Site News - Replies (1)

Well guys, after reading all the feedback, I decided to go ahead and start the Car of the Month Spotlight Feature!

It is open to all members no matter if your car is finished in drivable condition or in restoration phase! Just start a thread in the proper forum...be sure to include lots of pics and specs on your car. We also need at least one large (high resolution) photo for use in the yearly calendar! Also include some info or history about your car...how you got it, where it came from, etc.

Once threads start appearing, other members can view them and place votes by clicking the LIKE button at the bottom of each COTM submission. The Submission that has the most votes at the end of each month will be the winner! The winner gets a portal page spot, a current COTM spot in the forum and a place in the hall of fame as well as a profile trophy!

The rest of the submissions will continue to receive votes until the next month when the winner is announced...and so on! Submissions from both the On the Road and In Restoration categories are eligible for the winners circle! It's obvious that everyone seem to enjoy all phases of the Mustang hobby!

I hate to rush things, but in order to keep this thing on track for a nice calendar next year...we need a winner by the end of this month! So get posting and then get voting! Remember...this is all for FUN! So have FUN!! If you have any questions, post them here and I will address them...

  Events Forum now has regions!
Posted by: rocketfoot - 01-09-2011, 11:17 AM - Forum: Site News - Replies (6)

There has been a lot of talk in the VIP Forum about meets and cruises for the upcoming season! So I decided to create sub forums for each region to help you organize meets, shows and cruises. The forums are also for listing any upcoming events in your area. The more info we can post in the Events Forums, the better chance that we can all get out and meet some other 7173Mustang.com Members!

I've included a breakdown map of the US region and there are also regions for our International friends! If I missed any regions, give me a holler!

  Favorite Threads!
Posted by: rocketfoot - 01-06-2011, 02:38 PM - Forum: Site News - Replies (4)

Ever saw a thread that you knew would be useful, but later couldn't find it when you needed to reference or link it? Well, I just uploaded a new feature called "Favorite Threads!"

When viewing a thread, you will see a link at the bottom left of the page that says: "Add thread to Favorites" Just click it and the thread will be saved in your User CP!

To call up your favorite threads, just goto the User CP Home page and scroll down to the bottom left where you will see "Favorite Threads" Clicking this will bring up a a list of your favorites!

You will notice a link for subscribed threads also. This feature allows you to subscribe to a thread and receive PM's or emails when ever a reply is added! It is also easy to remove threads from either feature when needed.

Favorite Threads and Subscribed threads are probably two of the most helpful features on the forums! Hope you enjoy them!

  New Moderator!
Posted by: rocketfoot - 12-23-2010, 08:30 PM - Forum: Site News - Replies (12)

Hey guys, I just wanted to announce that Doc (73vertproject) agreed to help out when he can as a forum mod! We felt that he would make a great addition to the staff and represent the convertible folks well!

We are also working on another new mod and a new tech advisor! Stay tuned...more to come!

  Welcome New Site Advertisers!
Posted by: rocketfoot - 12-22-2010, 11:33 AM - Forum: Site News - Replies (5)

I just wanted to take a minute to welcome our two newest site supporter/advertisers! CJ Pony Parts and Motorcity Mustang!

They are joining the ranks with our original site supporter Ohio Mustang Supply! All three vendors show a great interest in the 71-73 Mustang variety and I'm happy to have them aboard to help us find parts for our projects!

Photo and Garage Links in Username Menu
Posted by: rocketfoot - 12-16-2010, 03:46 PM - Forum: Site News - Replies (3)

In a effort to clean up the post bit, I have moved the links to your Garages, Photos, Blog & Wiki Posts and Videos to the username dropdown menu! It looks much more professional and clean! The menu also contains links to all your posts and threads as well as a link to your profile page. This is also where you can click to PM or email a member.

To try it out, just click on my username to the left (above my Rocket Logo). You can also click on your own name in any post to find your own content.

New Guidelines for Weekly Fun Question
Posted by: cobra3073 - 12-15-2010, 12:24 PM - Forum: Site News - Replies (9)

Good Day All!

After some reflections and coordination, it has been decided to revamp the Weekly Fun Question (WFQ) process to try and make it more entertaining and to encourage more participation.

Effective immediately, a member who correctly respond to the WFQ on three (3) different occasions will have his/her entry fee paid to become a VIP member. The "count" is retroactive so if you were a previous winner, your previous correct response(s) will also be considered toward the "three" correct responses.

While VIP members may also respond to the question (for bragging rights), they are NOT in competition with regular members for the WFQ award. The Periodic Fun Question (PFQ), where monetary and other awards will be given for the correct response, will henceforth ONLY be posted on the VIP Forum which means ONLY VIP members will be eligible for that award.

To ensure fairness, the responses to the WFQ and the PFQ are to be sent via PM to Barry (rocketfoot) and myself (cobra3073). The first member whose received response is deemed correct will be declared the "winner."

For the near term, I will continue to post the questions at approximately 7:00 PM (CST) on Saturday with the posting of the "winner" the following Monday at the same time (7:00 PM {CST}). I will make every effort to ensure the questions are relevant and will also provide source documentation when responses are contested. In some cases, the questions will come from information discussed and/or otherwise posted on the site.

Please keep in mind that this is an evolving situation as Staff and some VIP members are looking at a number of other initiatives to enhance member's positive experiences on the Site. We are open to additional suggestions and/or comments.
