Was that car down by tri cities raceway?...It looks just like a road runner i seen down by my cousin house by tri cities raceway.....Yellow one down there next door too his place in about the same shape.
No, this is an AZ car but it was once used on the drag strip. It had a ridiculous 5.xx something rear end. From the original owner is that this was a pretty quick car in it's day.

Wow...some low low gears....almost sounds like it was set up for 1/8th mile with that low of gears...lol

Thx Lars!!! I plan to start the restoration in the beginning of the new year. I am going to try a rotisserie restoration and restore it to concourse. I hope to get it torn apart in the first couple months and then have the body soda blasted. I'll use this thread for the restoration progress and pics as work progresses.

Nice Roadrunner..... with a 440! Awesome.... would love to drive one of those.

I saw one of those 6 barrel ones in the Chrysler Museum in Detoit.

John,

oh man, that is one nice find! It has all the right specs, fantastic! It is one of my favourite muscle cars after the Mustang and if I had the time, money and room, I had one exactly like this!

Awesome!

Funy, that it has the 3/4 vinyl roof as our Mustangs too... ::thumb::

::congratz::

Yeah, that's my dilemma right now. The mustang has to go to storage to make room.
The same problem I have, except my Jeep's in a storage unit because I have too much crap on the other side of the garage from the Mustang.

Good to hear i am not the only one with that problem.... i would like to eventually buy another clasic car but there is no space. The space next to the garage is used by the boat so i only can expand into the backyard which opens another can of worms..... i still have couple years to figure out something.....

Whether you are a Chrysler fan or not, you have to admit they had some wild colors and some very nasty running cars! Not a Mopar expert but I'm pretty sure 71 was the last year for the production installed Hemi and 440-6 pak. Good reason to snag this 71 with the 440-6 pak. To me that would carry the same prestige as owning one of the last 429 Mustangs built. Most of my circle of horsepower freak friends owned Fords. But..there was that friend that drove a black 70 Dodge Super Bee 440-6 Pak with the lift off hood!! Got about 10-12 MPG but we didn't care. Gas stops became a choreographed production. The driver and riders job was to pull the front and rear hood pins and carefully place the hood on the roof while making sure everyone had a clear view of what we were doing. Lot of cool factor for the girls to see!!

I agree, this car is the "V" code car so it is a collector car. It's a 4 speed with bench seats and didn't come with that lazer stripe over the roof so I am thinking not many were made that way. The price was right too. Also have a little Red Express truck that I need to fix up. It's a Dodge but the price was right again.

Very interesting options. Have you done the galen thing yet will come back pretty low numbers I think
Luke,

This car is 1 of 137 4 spds for this year. It is quite interesting as it came with bench seats, 3/4 vinyl top, no lazer stripe or AC. It has the front spoiler and air grabber hood. It pretty much looks like a sleeper car with the exception of the hood and 4 spd. It didn't have the 440-6 emblem that you normally see above the front side marker lights either. It's in pretty rough condition and I am going to restore with no mods with the exception of the front grille emblem. I have the original one and these are held on by 1 nut so it's no big deal as it can be changed out in a minutes time. The roadrunner emblem in the pic is over the rear wheel well in about the same area where the bottom of the lazer stripe would be. Color is Curious Yellow with black interior.

They made 109 automatics.

Yes I am going to get a Galen report on this car.
