I am reassembling the interior on my 71 Mach 1 (I bought it disassembled). I see how the plastic drivers side dash and center bezel attach to the metal dash assembly but I am stumped on the glove box. I see retailers selling plastic trim that looks to cover the glove box door and the area around the glove box. My metal glove box frame and door is solid and has no holes to attach this trim. I assume the entire dash frame is new metal so is it supposed to be left metal on the glove box or do I need to drill holes for the plastic trim to cover it? Here are some pictures of what I am talking about.

Those trim panels are are only used in your car if it has the Mach 1 Sports Interior option. Standard interior has a metal passenger dash and a plain black instrument trim panel, with no texture, like the pic below from the 429 Megasite

You'll need to take a holesaw to your dash to install the trim panel. You'll have to take some accurate measurements and transfer them to both parts to do the job. I'd recommend you locate a dash frame and glove box door already set up for the trim panels.

Thanks everyone. Was able to transfer the holes and drill them out.
throw up a couple photos of how this turned out. i didnt know that some cars did not have the camera case trim. i guess it makes sense though. kudos to you for having the smarts to be able to drill some accurate holes and get the trim installed. i think that i would have just left it alone and stayed original. although i do think that the camera case trim does look good. i can see why you continued down that path.
