Hey guys,

So looking to replace my current 60amp alt which has an external volt reg and I’m going for a 100 amp with internal reg.

What do I do with the wires currently going to the external reg? As far as wiring goes is there much involved? Or am I best to stick with external reg?

Will replace starter solenoid while I’m at it.

Jayro,
Check out Summit racing 810308 100 amp alternator.
It is actually a GM style alternator with the case machined to mimic that of our oem alternators.
Simple wiring, took me about half an hour to wire and install, been on my car for about 4 years with no issues.

There is a great write up at motortrend. I used most of these bits, with an AAW alternator wire and fuse. I only have 2 wires coming off alternator, charge and ignition exciter wire…

Thank you for sharing the article link. I plan to keep our perfectly operational and upgraded 1st generation alternators and regulators in place for our 73 Mustangs. But this is good info to have on file.
