302 Pro Billet Distributor Wiring

Hello Ford gurus. In an effort to narrow my electrical issues down, the PO installed a Pro Billet distributor in the car.
He cut the ends and I have not been able to find a wiring diagram for this dist.
It is a simple (2) wire, however the wires are Black/Orange and Black/Violet (I think).
Which wire is the positive for the coil??

I don't know anything about distributors, but I read this on their site.​

Pro-Billet Distributors​

Pro-Billet is our most popular distributor and they require an Ignition Controller such as a MSD 6AL or 7AL-2, ACCEL or Mallory Ignition Control. The distributor has a 2-pin connector that plugs directly into most aftermarket CD Ignition control boxes.

since this is a 2 wire pro billet distributor, it requires an ignition box to run.
What ignition box do you have installed ?
There are leading edge and there are trailing edge ignition boxes.
The polarity of the pick-up coil should have no bearing on weather or not this distributor
is capable of giving a signal to your ignition box or not.
This distributor can NOT simply be hooked up to the + and - sides of the coil.

carguy47, once you tell us what module/amplifier you are using black/orange are positive polarity to msd/ford MODULES and black/ violet are negative polarity to msd/ ford MODULES, others may differ depending on leading or trailing edge and some can be changed with dip switches from within thier module, find your module before proceeding.

The engine had an MSD attached to it. The MSD stopped working.
So it sounds like i need to replace the distributor.
 
Do you know IF this distributor can be converted by installing a Pertronix Ignitor II kit??
 
Not likely, the magnetic sleeve is installed over the point cam in a stock distributor, and then the module is attached to the breaker plate. You don't have a breaker plate nor point camshaft. You can download the instructions from the Pertronix website to see how it is installed.

I kind of like the OEM Motorcraft modules for stock or near stock applications.
Pertronics makes a very good stand alone multi-spark module that I use.
you can buy a new msd unit or even wire it with a gm Hei module or
Chrysler mod as well.
I have done all of the above except the Chrysler module.
If it were mine, I guess I would see if your pickup coil is good or not and go from there or just buy plug and play.
