Thanks, been a garage car most it’s life. Do have some small rust damage on the passenger quarter panel and below the passenger tail light.

Very nice! It looks really solid and straight. That is going to be a beauty when it's done. I love that your dad gave it to you and now you are restoring it, that's awesome!

Looks like a very well optioned car fold down seat AC and the holes in the A-pillar, looks like its a power window car? What color are you painting it?
I am going to the original blue with black stripes. I want to keep it the same color as factory.

Looks like you are doing a good job. Are you going to use the original paint formula. I did a two stage decades ago and the car looked great. I considered it a huge mistake for me though as it was too shiny, and I believe the clear coat will fail sooner than an original single stage formula. I'm too much of a factory type preferred restoration person and don't know what I was thinking. Sold it so I wouldn't find out.

I have not thought that deep into it yet. I just know what my dad wanted and I am going to keep with that trend.

Any one ever used POR15 for the underside of the car? I used it on a firewall before but never a whole underside?

I'm saying your dad wanted single stage original formula then to match the level of restoration he is requiring you to do.

Yes I have used Por15 on complete underbody and frames and have had no problem with the application or the durability. I have always been told that it can be brittle and subject to chipping or cracking but I have not experienced that personally. I reduce it and apply with a spray gun and it always comes out looking good. The smell is horrible when sprayed and even with the booth on the smell permeates the whole shop, though.

Although this is an "evil" car it is an example pic of one of my other cars after i painted the firewall and underside and subframe with Por15

73 Blue Mach 1's mostly had argent stripes. I don't know if black was available on a Blue car.
