What did you do to your car today?

Began the new-to-me car cleaning process. I just drove mine thru Oklahoma and Texas, across the Texas Panhandle and thru the West Texas Caprock. Not too far, only 275 miles, but it was somewhat nerve wracking since I haven't done a thing with the car except buy and drive home. It was a beast though, took those hills like a champ, about a 1300ft elevation change.

Finished 1st wheel (finally had time today to get to it). Learned a bit what works and what does not, the rest should go much faster. Any type of steel wool - does not work, just adds more work.
Was getting a bit dark outside, still has blue protective tape over the black stripe.
Will throw 225 wide tires on wheels once all are sanded and polished. White letters out..Cooper Cobra!

I finally got the header on my vert buttoned. I had been chasing a leak which lead to pulling everything apart, renewing some foam seals and fixing the broken header studs. Put rear wheel on, washed it, filled with recreational gas, parked it in the in laws heated garage for winter.

I just put on new front springs, upper and lower control arms, inner and outer tie rods. Detailed the front and rear wheel wells. Installed rear anti sway bar.

Removed the blower motor and fan assembly. Lubed up the motor and now it works. Reinstalled it and tested it. That was fun getting that out and back in. Removing the gas peddle linkage helps out a bunch. Installed the Holley choke cable.
Removed the old Mollary distributor and installed a new factory looking one (Cardone) with a Accell electronic conversion. Set the timing m. Made up a set of MSD street fire plug wires.
Car runs a ton better. Rotated the header flange so it doesn’t hit the trans pan flange anymore. Eliminated that annoying knock
Never ending but I enjoy it

I was finally able to get back to my car today after 5 weeks away. I pulled the fuel tank and replaced the in tank pump; long story but the new pump should have been the first pump. I was also able to service the fuel injectors; when I first started my car in Oct, two of the FI were leaking at the top. I found this kit to refurbish them and had fun doing something I’ve never done before. Tomorrow, I try to start it fir the second time.

I had the Mach out of the garage for a day while I replaced the clutch master and slave cylinders on the Mini. I hear people like cold start videos, so I made one when I moved it back into to the garage. Temp was 25°F when I lit it off.

We had a bit of cold weather with rain lately. I took the opportunity to roast some tires. Had the 73 mach1 rustang out and busted some doughnuts in the grocery store parking lot. The ol' girl whips that fat butt around quick.

Let’s go!

Eh, they already treated the roads once with liquid death, so it stays in the yard 'til spring. I'd love nothing more that to drive it, as the new NPD copper/brass heater core really kicks out some heat.

I worked on my custom 1971 Shelby Europa gas cap. I couldn’t find anything I liked for my build, so I just made one. The cap is 95% finished, I have some fine detail work to do on the face and I need to decide how I want to mount the Shelby emblem. My only real choices are with barrel nuts or 3M tape. I’m leaning toward stick-on, but I’m still on the fence about that part. For now just mocked up with tape.

I knew the gas cap was going to be a sticking point on my build and it would really irritate me every time I drove it knowing the gas cap was a weak point. So I spent a ton of time researching the part, looking at photos, emailing Dr. Harvima and Wolfgang to work out the details. IMHO, I think I got it right.

Here's an original. They are a cast part, basically made only for the original Shelby Europa's.
