73 Forged wheels Lug Nuts choice

Since OEM lug nuts are impossible to find, what would be best close second?

First picture is OEM, they are abou 2.35" long.
Second pic, 2.5" long
3rd pic, 2.3" long

Just an opinion, but maybe the 2.3"?

I am not sure my eye can see the .05" difference from OEM.

It is the shape of the nut crown that is the real issue. It is a shame there is not a good repop.

Yes, the cone shape is what you cant find in lugs wich are over 2".
2.5" lug has a crown wich is longer, more of oem length while 2.3 is very short...that's why I am even considering 2.5"

IMHO, I'd go with the ones in the third picture. since they're one piece lug nuts. The ones in the second picture are two piece and have been known to lose their crown.

I used these. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001O0ANTI/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Fit and worked perfect. Wish the ends weren't rounded. Maybe there are some out there that have a cone head, but I can't find them.

Yes, you can get cone heads in same length of 1.9"

Also you can get 13/16 socket 1.9" tall taper top. But cost 4 time more then 3/4 socket from Amazone.

In Canada, Costco carry a huge selection of the chrome lug nuts. You may want to check with them. They are only $12 for a set of 20.

D7OZ-1012-A is part #, I was told when I purchased them years ago they would be acceptable on concours restoration. I wont guarantee it.

These are no longer sold new.
Amazon has replacement for this part number, but they are a bit different - some length.

Agree with Idaho Chris; although there is probably a limited market for such, it would be nice if there was a decent repo for those lug nuts.
The original D0OZ-1012-A lug nuts listed for the '73 Mustang were sourced from the '70 Torino. Oddly, the only wheels on the '70-71 Torino to use chrome lug nuts were the 15" Magnums, and the D0OZ lug nuts were too tall. Ford revised the catalog listing to the correct C4GY-A chrome nuts. The D0OZ-A lug nuts continued to be used on select Pinto, '73-77 Maverick, '75-80 Granada, and sister Mercury vehicles with slot aluminum wheels. They were discontinued in early '95.

The D7OZ-1012-A lug nuts mentioned earlier are as close as you will see in appearance and size in an OE lug nut from Ford. They were released originally for use on the Polycast Road wheels on the '77-79 T-Bird, LTD II, and Cougar. They were later cataloged for the '79-84 Fox platform vehicles that utilized the TRX tire/wheel option and other later models through 89 with various cast aluminum wheels. When the D0OZ-A lug nuts were discontinued, they were not replaced by the D7OZ-A version. The D7OZ-A were discontinued in early 2000, so they have been out of the system for a while and are becoming difficult to find. Of course, when some vendors found out about the Mustang applications, the lug nut that once retailed for $1.50 immediately shot up to $20.00 or more with its newfound fame!
The illustrations below show the difference in the crowns of the two lug nuts and a 1/4" height difference that the untrained eye probably wouldn't notice.
The suggestions on the after-market lug nuts appear to be your best bet.

Are these identical except that the price is a little lower in the ones in the bottom picture? It's strange that the length is listed at 1 7/8" and in the "customer review " section "dood" lists them as being " about 2 1/2" long". They seem like they would be about as close a match as you could find to the originals except that they are shorter than the factory ones by about 3/8".
