Ok, but a newish question: where does the routed wire plug in? Another thing my coupe didn’t come with. I know it’s suppose to plug into connector c706, but where is that located? I traced the wiring going to the trunk on the drivers side, and no LG-Y wiring is going that way. Location pics would be great if someone has one.

There is a bullet connector, but it is a BK-LB tracer, routed up the sail panel and under the headliner. I believe that is the done light circuit. I reached back as far as I could and looked in the drivers side wheel well cavity and nothing else.

What is worrisome is there isn’t a LG-Y wire in the drivers side sill plate wiring group. That’s the reason I was asking, because I don’t have one there. Are 73 Grande’s different?

Here is the wiring diagram I’m getting this info from:

Hemi, there isn’t one. Nada. I ran my hand from the drivers side tail light, found the fuel sender branch, and the side marker light branch, the straight wires to that BK-LB bullet connector to the dome light. Here’s a pic of that connector and you can see the wire running up the sail panel.

Follow the taillight harness up from the trunk drop off, you'll eventually run into the bullet connector for the trunk light.
Hemikiller do you know if all 71-73 Mustangs have a trunk light or is it part of an optional light group?
Mine has on but it is a convenience group car.

The car is a Grande, you would think since that was the “Luxury “ version, it would have it. But it doesn’t have that power feed wire shown in the wiring diagram at all in the door sill. I was hoping someone would have their car apart to see what wires they had in the drivers side sill. I have 6 wires, none of which are the LG-Y.

I'm not sure if these will help, I hope they will. These are pictures of my tail lamp harness as it came back from Midlife, after he went through all of my harnesses. I have not installed the tail lamp harness yet, because car is not painted yet. Unfortunately, I have no prior experience with Ford restorations so I can't speak from a position of knowledge or experience. All I can do is share the pictures of what I do have to hopefully help you . I have also attached a picture of the color chart sheet that Randy supplied me with when he returned the tail harness, as well as pictures of my service manual pages on the tail harness and trunk lamp install. Hopefully this helps

Thanks. Can you confirm the color/stripe of the two pigtail plugs on picture taillight harness 6? Those should be LG-Y and BK-LB wires. The first is the trunk light power source and the second is the dome light.

Well, as I hoped I was wrong about, my Grande didn’t come with the convenience package, that included that additional trunk circuit. So, thanks to 71Fast, I have an easy solution to add it from the l/h door switch power. Thanks again to those who continue to educate me. Steve

I would say that one is black with light blue stripe and the other is yellow with light green stripe but the colors are 50 years worth of faded.
