Under way 7.3 gas late model front suspension
Hello, this project is moving like pond water , however it will be seen thru

Sorry for the photo bomb, just decided to share a few months work, I figured I would start back to front, ( took the easy route first) 7.3 motor, 10 r80 trans, most likely 2015 ish front suspension maybe later model eBay has a lot to do with this decision, have not ruled out the crown Vic suspension, but it’s crown Vic suspension,

👍, seemed to make sense, later the sway bar will be relocated, biggest hang up is the rear steer front suspension, it has to go .
 
10-4, fingers crossed holley drops a computer to keep the variable cam timing
 
Most are locking the VCT and doing away with the variable displacement oil pump. That oil pan will likely have to go or risk dragging it on the ground. Ford has a controller for the 7.3 and 10r140. I think it keeps VCT in place?
 
Yes ford does , and should be dropping the manual trans version directly, Mars auto? Has the controller for 7.3 and 10r80, the beauty of the holley is adding other sensors, like diy traction control, and many many other options pretty much what ever you can think of. Locking the vct is a bit of a hack I think, on a factory setup the computer locks it without a dirty finger . Any how the real trick for me right now is getting it rolling under power, all the other stuff is easier.
 
The oil pump is super inconvenient
 
Biggest issue with the 7.3 Godzilla is the 11" from crank centerline cast pan with jackshaft driven rear mount oil pump. There are solutions, but they are expensive.
 
Make sure to include pixs if yo have to modify the tunnel to fit the transmission

What’s hard to believe for me is a late model weighs more than the 71 and is a half inch shorter!
Track width is about 3/4 inch wider? on late model.( I do not have cheat sheet in front of me )

Finally found time to clean up subframe and slide in late model front end, frame rails line up elevation looks to be about 4-5 inches to high right now. However I haven’t plumbed and squared yet.
Doable🤩

How is the project coming along? I am contemplating a swap of the same with my 71 C code. Was thinking of adapting an aftermarket Fox K member designed for the swap. Would be really interested in your progress. Have you determined about the trans. clearance in the tunnel yet?

Well I freely admit the 150 dollar delivered to your door plasma cutter is glorious.and it just paid for itself, getting closer, shaved towers plenty of room. Also have been waiting this whole time on a engine / transmission computer, “ on back order”

I have not fit transmission yet, hoping for the best but regardless it’s going in 🤩
